Then, after a year of inaction (other than spending $1.1 billion to not build a road), on Saturday February 6 a fleet of bureaucrats door-knocked 500 houses to 'consult' before Premier Andrews announced Sky Rail on Sunday Feb 7. People immediately protested.

It was revealed that Daniel Andrews had made a "captain's call" to go ahead with SkyRail without consulting his cabinet.

Labor have continued to jam it through, giving Glen Eira Council just 72 hours to comply with planning requirements in April.

On Friday April 22 they announced that contracts had been signed and work was to commence in two weeks or so on the Dandenong Line. The construction announcement was made just 74 days after the concept was first released.
Labor are now holding back announcements on the Frankston Line until just after the Federal election. It seems they are worried that what they are planning to propose will cost them more votes than if they stay silent.
